This year, we decided to do something a little different for Dol Utsav. Instead of staying back in the city, we—me, Iman, Dodo, and Popo—packed our bags and set off for Shantiniketan. What better place to soak in the spirit of Basanta Panchami than the very land where Rabindranath Tagore turned spring into a festival of art, music, and colors?
We checked into Sanjhbati Resort, nestled just a short drive from the heart of Shantiniketan. It’s a beautifully maintained property—peaceful, spacious, and just the right blend of comfort and local charm. Yes, it leans a bit on the pricier side, but the experience was worth every bit.
Our first evening was pure magic. The resort hosted a soulful Baul gaaner ashor by the bonfire, with voices that felt like they came straight from the red earth itself. What made it even better? A plate of fiery chili chicken that had me instantly time-traveling back to our ATI days. Golden City’s Dry Chili Pork came to mind—and with it, all those wild, youthful memories. Funny how flavors can unlock the past like that.
The next morning, we lazed around the poolside, catching our breath and soaking in the spring sun. It was one of those rare slow mornings that give you space to reflect—on life, on work (yes, even on the podcast launch that had us slightly on edge), and on how lucky we were to be in that moment together.
We spent the rest of the day wandering through the Visva-Bharati University campus, taking in the murals, the open-air classes, the rhythm of the place. There’s a quiet depth to Shantiniketan that stays with you long after the colors have faded.
To the team at Sanjhbati Resort, thank you for your warm hospitality. You made our #Basantautsav2025 not just a getaway, but a beautiful memory.
Till the next escape, Sriman
